Hetauda, Dec. 13: The number of tourists visiting the Indrasarobar Lake, one of the major tourist destinations in the Bagmati Province, has increased recently.
Following the increase in tourism-related activities, which had been badly affected by lockdown, the number of tourists visiting Indrasarobar Lake area in Indrasarobar Rural Municipality-1 of Makawanpur has increased lately.
The reservoir of Kulekhani Hydropower Project is becoming a major attraction for tourists visiting the area.
Krishna Bahadur Lama, president of the Indrasarobar Boat Operators' Association, said that the number of domestic tourists coming to the Indrasarobar Lake had increased recently with the addition of two motorboats.
According to him, on Saturday alone, more than 500 tourists from Hetauda, ​​Kathmandu and other places reached the lake for boating.
He said that the number of tourists visiting Indrasarobar had decreased due to the cold weather as more than 700 tourists used to come on Saturday in earlier seasons.
The association of boat operators has purchased a motorboat at a cost of Rs 4.45 million to operate on the lake. The motorboat was purchased by collecting Rs. 25,000 each from 343 members of the association.
Earlier, there was one motorboat with the association to use for rescue purpose in the time of accident. The association is also planning to add tourism infrastructures around the reservoir.
The association has been charging Rs 300 per person for half an hour for boating on Indrasarobar Lake in motorboat. The route for the boating has been made from the ticketing place on the bank of the lake to the island in the middle of the lake and passes through suspension bridge to the ticketing place.
Apart from motorboats, the association currently operates 32 wooden boats, two plate boats and one rafting boat and one banana boat.
Chairman Lama informed that two pedal boats had broken down and are in critical condition. He said that the motorboats have been added as per the demand of tourists visiting Indrasarobar Lake.
