By Our Correspondent, Chitwan, Feb. 14: An umbrella street constructed in Patihani, Chitwan, at the cost of Rs. 30 million was inaugurated by chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Thursday.
Patihani is one of the 100 tourist destinations declared by the government.
Mostly, Tharu and Bote tribes live in Patihani from where the wild animals of Chitwan National Park can be observed clearly.
According to chairman of Ward No 22 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City Bishnu Mahato, from the first umbrella road built in Nepal, beautiful reflection of sunrise and sunset could be enjoyed in the Rapti river.
He further said that Patihani had become a new tourist destination and the creation of the umbrella street would help attract more tourists.
The road spans in about 10 kattha of land where 480 colourful umbrellas are placed.
According to chairman of the Pathiani Tourism Development Committee Shankar Thapaliya, people come from Sauraha in safari riding jeeps to see the rhino and tiger in the jungle located near Patihani.
He further said that the umbrella road was constructed to create a peaceful and good environment for the tourists.
There are more than a dozen statues of animals through whose mouth water flows down. Likewise waterfalls, painting of Tharus and Botes and selfie spots are other attractions of the site, said Thapaliya.
Food festival was also organised to promote Pathani as a new tourist destination. According to Ramhari Sedai, coordinator of the Food Festival Promotion Committee, organic food has been kept at the Food Fest. “We provide local food to tourists, with the aim of creating a friendly atmosphere for tourists. The festival that began on February 13 will conclude on Saturday.
