By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Mar. 27: Artist and Journalist of Gorkhapatra Sasthan, Keshab Raj Khanal has launched the book titled “Nepal Ma Cartoon Hijo Ra Aaja” amid the programme held at Nepal Academy of Fine Arts on Friday in Kathmandu.
The book has been launched in the presence of chancellor KK Karmacharya, deputy chancellor of the academy Gopal Chitrakaar, cartoonist Abhim Shrestha, Ramesh Bista, General Secretary of Nepal Journalist Association and others.
Addressing the programme, Chancellor Karmacharya said that even though the cartoon genre could hugely transform society, it had been least prioritised.
Stating that cartoon would help to spread the significance of the nation across the world, he said that even in the mainstream journalism cartoon was given less importance. Writer Khanal said that he had written the book with the inspiration of the students who had taken cartoon as the major subject of journalism.
Sharing his own experience, he said, “While studying Master’s degree taking cartoon as the major subject, I had faced a lot of challenges in finding cartoon-related books and I hope this book will help to solve that.”
Ramesh Bista said that this book was a precious gift for both the Nepali journalism and art sector. The space of the cartoon genre has yet not established in the Nepali digital media, he added.
