By A Staff Reporter , Kathmandu, Apr. 23 : Famous singer and lyrist Buddha Bir Lama is preparing to perform his 10th solo evening in the United States. It will be his first solo performance in the USA.
Lama has alreday reached the United States for the event to be held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania,Saturday evening (April 25).
The programme will be broadcast live on social media.
Earlier, Lama had organised eight solo evenings in Kathmandu and one in Jhapa.
Lama used to provide the money raised from the programmes to the old-age homes and orphanages after deducting the expenses.
Lama is also a former marathon runner.
Lama said that a marathon will be organised for the first time in Buddhadham, his birthplace in Ilam, with the money raised from his US performance.
Lama has been active in song writing for about four decades. He has penned hundreds of popular songs, including Dherai Choti Aankha Judhyo, Chalechha Batas Sustari, Badaluko Ghumtole, Khutta Tandai Gara, Aaj Hamro Bhet Vako Din, Choli Ramro Palpali Dhaka Ko and Bhupu Mayalu.
An organising committee comprising Run Rai, OP Gurung, TB Gurung, DB Gurung, Bishwa Gurung, Bhupal Gurung, Pushpa Gurung, Deepa Gurung, Biren Rai, Mukti Raj Gurung and Nirmala Sapkota Gurung has been formed under the coordination of Arjun Gurung and Ratna Gurung for his US programme.
