Kathmandu, June 25: Local levels including metropolitan cities across the country unveiled the budget for the fiscal year 2021/22 on Thursday. Pokhara Metropolitan City presented a budget of Rs. 6.277 billion while Biratnagar Metropolitan City presented Rs. 4.1 billion.
Presenting the budget Manju Gurung, Deputy Mayor of Pokhara, said that this year’s budget focused on the prevention of COVID-19 and infrastructure development. On the occasion, Gurung said that the metropolitan city was planning to procure 50,000 doses oaf vaccines.
Likewise, Deputy Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City Indira Karki tabled a budget of Rs. 4.1 billion in Biratnagar. She allotted Rs. 467 million for current expenditure, Rs. 3.58 billion for capital expenditure and Rs. 50 million for fiscal management.
Similarly, Bharatpur Metropolitan City presented a budget of Rs. 4.81 billion for the fiscal years 2021.22. Deputy Mayor Parbati Shah Thakuri tabled the budget in the 9th municipal meeting on Thursday.
The metropolitan city had presented a budget of Rs. 4.15 billion for the current fiscal year.
Similarly, Hetauda Sub Metropolitan City, the only Sub Metropolitan City of Bagmati, presented a budget of Rs. 2.6 billion. Deputy Mayor Mina Kumari Lama presented the budget allocating Rs. 1.3 billion for infrastructure development.
Similarly, Bhadrapur Municipality presented a budget of Rs. 830 million. While presenting the budget, Deputy Mayor of the municipality, Chandra Maya Shrestha, said that the municipality has prioritised the pride projects including first science city, Kamaldham and focused on children-friendly municipality.
Similarly, Kohalpur Municipality of Banke presented a budget of Rs. 1.30 billion. Presenting the budget at the a municipal assembly, Mayor Lut Bahadur Rawat said that the budget prioritised health and education. Likewise, most of the local levels of Rupandehi have prioritised health and education in their budget.
Sidhharthanagar Municipality of Rupandehi prioritised health, education and inclusive
development. Mayadevi Rural Municipality presented a budget of Rs. 630 million. Presenting the budget, chairman of the rural municipality, Kub Narayan Chaudhary, said that the rural municipality prioritised health, education, agriculture and infrastructure.
Similarly, Gaidahawa Rural Municipality presented a budget of Rs. 660 million for the fiscal year 2021/22. The rural municipality unveiled the budget prioritising agriculture, education, health, employment and trade, tourism infrastructure for the development of Gaidahawa.
The only metropolitan city of Province 2, Birgunj Metropolis presented a budget of Rs. 3.55 billion for the fiscal year 2021/22. The implementation of the presented budget will help in development of prosperous Birgunj by developing economic and social infrastructure of the municipality, said mayor of the metropolitan city Bijay Kumar Sarawagi.
