Kathmandu, Aug. 5: Top leaders of the Nepali Congress Wednesday agreed to end its active membership row within three days. A meeting of the leaders held at party president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's private residence in Budhanilkantha reached this agreement.
Party president Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel, leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula and party active membership probe committee coordinator Ramesh Lekhak and its members were present in the meeting.
The meeting concluded to continue the discussion about the party's 14th general convention scheduled for September 1-4 by solving the active membership problem within three days.
After the meeting, NC leader Lekhak informed that the leaders discussed the ways to provide active membership to the leaders and workers who joined the NC by deserting other political parties.
"We discussed the ways to provide active membership to them. Our discussion will continue and reach a conclusion within two or three days," Lekhak, who is also Active Membership Probe Committee Coordinator, said.
The meeting also discussed about finalising the 14th general convention related calendar within two days.
According to Lekhak, the top leaders will reach a conclusion within two days about the general convention related calendar.
He said it was not rational to tell that the party's 14th general convention would be deferred.
The party has decided to hold its 14th general convention in Kathmandu from September 1. But there are rumours that the NC cannot hold its central general convention on the scheduled date its local level general convention was not held as per the calendar. Earlier, the party put off its local level general convention scheduled for July 27.
