Janakpur, Mar. 30: Comedian duo Madan Krishna Shrestha and Haribansha Acharya were presented the title of the‘Great Fool’ amid a Fagu programme organised by Mithila Natya Kala Parishad (MINAP) at Janaki temple in Janakpur on Sunday.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure of Province-2 Jitendra Sonal and chairman of the Mithila Drama Council Parmesh Jha honoured the comedians, popularly known as ‘Maha Jodi’ with an artistic garland of vegetables and gifts.
Shrestha and Acharya became emotional after receiving the honour.
They expressed that the ‘Great Fool’ honour was the most precious gift to their long career. After receiving the odd title, they said they would honour the title of the ‘Great Fool’ like the thousands of other awards they received over the years.
The duo, which has been acting together for 41 years, was created according to the Mithila culture.
In Mithilanchal, it is customary to move together by forming an alliance for a lasting relationship between husband and wife or friends.
The performers of MINAP sang traditional songs by uniting the couple and moving them on the stage.
MINAP has been organising a two-day Fagu festival for the past 25 years on the eve of the Fagu.
On the first day of the festival on Saturday, Fagu singing Dumpa competition was organised.
