Karnali, May 1 : Chief Minister of Karnali Province Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has conducted a monitoring of hospitals in the province amid hospitals being flooded by Covid-19 patients.
CM Shahi, who also looks after the Ministry of Social Development, monitored and took stock of the situation of Province Hospital, Surkhet on Friday evening. He also conducted an inspection of isolation wards and inquired about health of the infected people, it has been said.
On the occasion, the hospital director Dr Dambar Khadka and corona liaison person Dr KN Poudel apprised the CM of Covid-19 treatment provided by the hospital.
Health workers also complained about problems they have been facing in treating the infected people.
Following the monitoring, the CM directed the hospital director Dr Khadka to make treatment effective.
Eight Covid-19 infected people have died in the province in the past 24 hours alone.
With this, the death toll from the deadly virus in Karnali Province has hit 48. Additional 253 new infection cases have been reported in the province, taking the caseload to the total 90,347.
