By Mahima Devkota, Kathmandu, Oct. 8: Food Management and Trading Company Limited (FMTC) is selling goats from tomorrow, Saturday, targeting the Dashain festival.
“Selling of goats will start from this Saturday. FMTC will hold a meeting today and fix the price of goats. The company will sell at a discount of Rs. 10 per kg from the market price. The price of a goat in the market ranges from Rs. 550 to Rs. 750 a kg," informed Sharmila Neupane Subedi, spokesperson of the FMTC.
A total of 229 goats have arrived from Dang and 302 goats from Heatuda in the Kathmandu Valley today as the first consignment of the FMTC, targeting the Dashain festival. However, FMTC will not sell any mountain goats (Chyangra) this year owing to its high price.
FMTC aims to sell around 2,000 goats this year, however, 1000 more goats can be fetched if the demand increases, said the FMTC. Last year, the FMTC had sold 1,000 goats and 1,000 mountain goats (Chyangra).
