Itahari, Oct. 20: A total of six people including four of the same family were killed in landslide in Chaubise Rural Municipality-1 of Dhankuta on Wednesday. Similarly, six people have been injured. According to the Provincial Police Office, Biratnagar, 60-year-old Bhim Bahadur Shrestha and his three family members succumbed after being buried by the landslip.
The deceased were identified as 5-year-old Nirjala Shrestha, 7-year-old Dipsan Shrestha and 9-year-old Binod Shrestha. Similarly, 39-year-old Sanjiv Shrestha and 38-year-old Laxmi Shrestha, who had visited Bhim Bahadur’s home to celebrate Dashain also died in the landslide.
Bhes Bahadur Shrestha, Lila Shrestha, Ganit Kumari Shrestha, Chandra Kumar Shrestha, Usha Shrestha and Sanjal Shrestha were also injured in the landslide. Of the injured, health condition of three patients is critical, informed the police.
Durga Bahadur Thapa, head of a Nepali Army barrack in Salleri, Dhankuta, informed that preparations were underway to airlift three patients. The NA informed that the bodies had already been recovered.
