By Our Correspondent, Bara, Apr. 5: About 119,200 tonnes of potatoes have been produced in the district this year.
Chief of the Agriculture Knowledge Centre Jitendra Yadav said that a total of 119,200 tonnes of potatoes were produced in 7,450 hectares of land in the district.
The productivity of potatoes has increased marginally this year compared to last year, he said. This year’s per hectare productivity of potatoes reached 16 tonnes from 15.4 tonnes last year, he said.
Last year, about 115,038 tonnes of potatoes worth Rs. 2.87 billion were produced. Farmers had cultivated different varieties of potatoes in an area of 7,470 hectares last year.
Potato is cultivated in the southern part of the district, including Uchidih, Hariharpur, Golaganj, Amritganj, Devapur, Bhagawanpur, Piparpati, Bariyarpur and Matiarwa, said General Mandal, a technician at the Agriculture Knowledge Centre.
