By Tara Chapagain Dube, Pokhara, Aug. 17: A weeklong prohibitory order has been issued in Pokhara following detection of COVID-19 cases in the community. The restrictions will be enforced from today midnight

Dhana Bahadur Nepali, spokesperson of Pokhara Metropolitan City, informed that a meeting of the main committee for controlling corona infection of the PMC held this morning made the decision to impose prohibitory orders for a week starting from today midnight itself.

Shova Mohan Paudel, a member of the main committee, said that the committee would take decision on extending the orders considering the situation after a week. She said the decision to impose restrictions were taken in view of the upcoming festivals and possibility of further spread of the virus infection.

During the prohibition, only groceries and pharmacies will be allowed to open while people with no essential works will be restricted from stepping out of home. Vehicles carrying health workers, media persons, security forces and most essential goods and those which have taken permission from administration will be allowed to ply.

The PMC had on Sunday held discussion on the same issue, clamping restrictive orders, with different political parties on Sunday.
