Tanahun, May 17 : Vyas Muncipality in Tanahun district is expediting the efforts to set up fruits and vegetable collection centres with an aim to facilitate the farmers for the sale of their produces and help to make them self-reliant. Out of 14 wards, such centres are being establishing in 11 wards in the municipality, the officials said.
Municipality’s Mayor Baikuntha Neupane said that each ward is given Rs 300,000 in cash for the establishment of fruits and vegetables collection centre.
According to Mayor Neupane, the municipality was initiating such move to make folks self-reliant in fruits and vegetables as the prospects of growth in tourism and industry sectors seem unlikely.
However, chairman of ward no. 7, Tulasiram Sapkota, said that construction of the collection centre is affected due to the lockdown order.
