By Dipak Prasad Gautam, Birgunj, May 12: Two journalists have been infected with COVID-19 in Birgunj.
Earlier today, the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) had confirmed COVID-19 infection in 39 persons in Burginj out of which, two patients were journalists.
Dr. Madan Upadhyaya, Medical Superintendent at Narayani Hospital, said that tracing of other journalists had begun following the confirmation of virus infection in two journalists.
Out of two, one is a reporter at an FM that is broadcast from Birgunj while another is a reporter at an online portal, informed Dr. Upadhyaya.
After the Parsa Police had misbehaved with Tiwari Yadav, a journalist in Birgunj, all journalists of Birgunj had protested in front of Ghantaghar on Monday and Tuesday.
They had also submitted a memo to the District Administration Office, Parsa on Tuesday.
The two COVID-19 infected journalists had also participated in the protest. This has instigated fear among all journalists in the boder town.
The COVID-19 tally in Parsa itself has reached 64.
