Chautara, July 16 : Two persons from a same family died and three others went missing in a landslide occurred at Phulpingkatti of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-4 in Sindhupalchowk last night.
Those killed in the landslide are Nimasyangbo Sherpa, 34, and Anji Sherpa, 16, according to District Police Office. Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle informed that search for the missing ones- Somsang Sherpa, 84; a woman of 42 years and Chhiring Sherpa, 12, was continuous.
Those killed in the tragedy are spouse and daughter of Gyaljen Sherpa. His mother, sister and another daughter are missing. However, Gyaljen escaped the tragedy as he was currently staying in Kathmandu, according Ward Chair San Dorje Sherpa.
The landslide also damaged neighbouring house and a school. Six households have been displaced while 18 families are at imminent risk.
A police team reached the site after three-hour walk this morning. The trails to reach the site were damaged in various places. Currently, the team including Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and locals is continuing the search for the missing ones.
