Kathmandu, June 27 : The Ministry of Health and Population is to establish 10 more laboratories in order to carry out test for Corona Virus through the Polymerase Chain Reaction method. The labs will be established in 10 different locations as an effort to expand the scope of COVID-19 tests, said coordinator of the Ministry's Incident Command System Dr Gunaraj Lohani.
Accordingly, the PCR labs will be set up in Mechi hospital, Dadeldhura hospital, Dailekh hospital, National Ayurved Research and Training Centre, Kathmandu, Armed Police Hospital, Balambu, Palpa hospital, Dhaulagiri hospital, Dhankuta hospital, Nepal Police and Nepali Army hospitals in the capital. Presently, PCR test for Corona Virus takes place in 23 different laboratories across the country.
With the new additions, as many as 10,000 tests can be done in a single day. Currently, 6,000 tests are being done in a day. So far, 206,271 PCR tests have been carried out.
