By Laxman Paudel, Bhairahawa, June 12: The 35-year old youth who died at the Indian side of Nepal-India border point of Sunauli on June 10 has been found to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19.
A worker in Mumbai in India, the youth was on his way to home at Susta of Nawalparasi west in Nepal.
Ishwori Adhikari, police inspector and chief at Area Police office Belhiya, said that the Indian side had informed them that the youth had tested positive for COVID-19 in the PCR test.
"The Indian side had taken the body to an Indian hospital," he said, "PCR report of the youth has come out to be positive and it is said that the body will also be managed (cremated) by the Indian side."
The youth had died across the Nepal-India border gate in the Indian side few minutes before he could enter his home country. He was coming to his home in Susta from Mumbai. He passed away immediately after vomiting at 4 am on June 10. He was accompanied by three of his friends from Palpa district.
