Janakpur, Aug. 21: Fifty two people have died from COVID-19 and more than 8,000 COVID-19 infection cases have been detected in State 2.
Of all eight districts in the State battling the infection, Parsa has suffered the most with 25 deaths reported. Dhanusa reported nine deaths from the virus.
Likewise, Bara recorded six deaths, Saptari four, Rautahat three, Mahottari and Siraha two each and Sarlahi one, according to the Ministry of Social Development of the State.
All eight districts share border with India. And despite mobility of people across the border being restricted, people are entering Nepal illegally through the transits, said local people.
Until August 20, eight thousand 63 infection cases have been detected in the State. Of the infected, 3,984 have been free of the virus and 3,895 are receiving treatment, said the Ministry.
So far, swabs of 85,764 people have been collected and of them, 72,789 people have been tested positive for the infection and reports of 4,912 are yet to come, said the Ministry. There are 13,748 beds in 217 quarantine facilities in the State. One thousand three hundred twenty seven suspected people have been kept in quarantine facility and 2,188 in home-quarantine facility. Likewise, 461 have been kept in isolation and 762 in home-isolation.
