SMS campaign launched in Dailekh to raise awareness, prevent COVID-19

By Kamal Sharma, Dailekh, Aug. 26: The District Administration Office, Dailekh, has launched an SMS campaign in order to prevent the COVID-19 infection.

Santa Bahadur Sunar, Chief District Officer (CDO) and chairperson of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee, said, "The campaign will be launched in all the 90 wards of all 11 local levels in the district.” 

He added, the SMS campaign is aimed at mobilizing the government and non-governmental organizations to maintain rules to check virus infection such as keeping physical distance, wearing face masks and usage of the sanitizer.

The decision to run the campaign is made with consent from BK Singh BK, captain at Indra Dal Company of the Nepali Army, Hari Bahadur Oli, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Dr. Niranjan Pant of Dailekh Hospital and Assistant Chief District Officer, Indra Bahadur Chetteri, in partnership with governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Deepak Shahi, chairperson of Everest Club, Basanta Shrestha, executive director of Social Service Center, Radha Malla of the NGO Federation, said that they would support the SMS campaign through different projects aimed at prevention and control of COVID-19.

As an appreciation and respect for the work of the police to curb spread of COVID-19 in the district, Hari Karki, a businessman, provided an auto sanitizer machine costing Rs. 9,000 to the District Police Office so that the machine and the sanitizer could help the security personnel as well as the service seekers there save from the virus infection.
