By Siraj Khan/ Govinda Sharma, Nepalgunj, May 12: As more and more people who sneaked into Nepal through open borders with India have tested positive for COVID-19, security has been tightened in border areas of Banke district.
Despite the border being closed due to ongoing lockdown that is implemented to combat COVID-19, many have entered Nepal in a secret and unauthorised way.
Thus, Nepali security forces have been deployed in borders to check stealthy entry of people, said Kumar Bahadur Khadga, Chief District Officer of Banke.
As the flow of people in Naraunapur, Kajura and Jankai has not stopped, heavy restriction has been imposed in the areas.
The local levels, by deploying security counsels and officials in different border areas have been checking unauthorised flow of people, he added.
Further, tight security order has been given to the duty officers of Nepali security forces to stop the illegal entry of people in Nepal.
Arrival of one COVID-19 patient has spread the virus to 24 others in Nepalgunj.
Disobeying the quarantine protocol by the returnees from India has led to increase in positive cases. Thus, the security has been tightened in the area, said District Administration Office, Banke.
