Bhaktapur, Aug 10 : The District Administration Office Bhaktapur has started a process for the distribution of national ID cards.
Chief District Officer Humkala Pandey shared the registration of details began amidst a programme on Sunday.
It may be noted that the government has set a target to register the details of around ten million people for the distribution of national ID cards from all 77 districts in the current fiscal year.
Lawmaker Mahesh Basnet informed the government has set a target to provide all Nepali citizens with national identity card within three years.
The District Administration Office Bhaktapur has started registration from two booths.
Though collection of details has started in Bhaktapur and Suryabinayak municipalities for the national ID purpose, the Madhyapurthimi and Changunarayan municipalities are also set to initiate the service from next week.
According to CDO Pandey, it will take at least one week for the installation of computers and other devices required for initiating the service. The collection of details from citizens will be done by maintaining all security protocols of the COVID-19, he added.
