Surkhet, May 8 : Rainstorm has damaged a transmission tower each of Radio Nepal and Nepal Television at Harre in Surkhet. High wind amidst rain knocked down the Radio Nepal's FM relay station and the television tower at the place, said Mohan KC, a relay station technician based at Harre.
"The gusty wind has knocked down both towers breaking the antenna. The office building was also damaged as the towers crashed on its roof," he said. However, there is no human casualty in the incident.
According to Radio Nepal's province transmission centre chief Janaki Sharan Saha, Radio Nepal's FM 100 Megahertz transmission has been disrupted as the radio antenna is broken, affecting Banke, Bardiya, Salyan, Jajarkot and Surkhet districts. He said the technicians have not been able to reach the site with equipment due to the ongoing lockdown. Saha said an assessment of the damage would be carried out today taking help of the Area Police Office Chhinchu and vehicle permission from the District Administration Office Surkhet. It will take some time to repair the towers.
