By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, May 3: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has summoned the session of the Federal Parliament- the House of Representatives (HoR) and the National Assembly (NA)- upon the government's recommendation for May 8.
Issuing a press statement, Keshav Ghimire, spokesperson for Sheetal Niwas, the President's Office, stated that the President had called the sessions of both the HoR and the NA for May 8 as per constitutional provision mentioned in the Article 93 (1) of the Constitution. The session has been called at 4:00 pm at the Federal Parliament building, New Baneshwor.
Before the budget speech on May 29, the budget session will first approve the government's policies and programmes and the fiscal budget for 2020/21. As per the constitutional provision, the government needs to present the fiscal budget on May 29 every year.
This year, the government has been planning to hold less discussions in the policies and programmes due to lack of adequate time for the government to prepare the budget owing to the ongoing lockdown to stem spread of COVID-19.
