Banepa, July 18: An expectant mother was rescued by a helicopter from Gokule of Mahabharat Rural Municipality-2 in Kavrepalanchowk this morning.
Sunita Thokar, 19, who had been in labour pain for the past two days was picked up from the local Gokule Health Post and taken to the Kathmandu-based Maternity Hospital, Thapathali, said Rural Municipality Chair Kanchhalal Jimba.
The District Administration Office, Kavrepalanchowk facilitated the local government to acquire permission from the Home Ministry to use the chopper for the rescue.
As said by Health Post in-charge Praveen Kunwar, the woman was brought to the post on Friday. She was diagnosed with several health issues for normal delivery as high blood-pressure, prolonged labour pain, bleeding.
The area is accessible only by gravel roads and more they have remained obstructed during monsoon.
