By Abinash Chaudhari, Dhanagadhi, Aug. 31: Treatment of COVID-19 patients through plasma therapy method has been started also in Kailali district's Dhangadhi-based Seti Provincial Hospital.
Dilip Kumar Shrestha, information officer of the hospital, informed that this method would be applied only for the critical patient.
"Plasma therapy has been used for treatment of only the critical cases and we have made all necessary preparations," said Shrestha.
The hospital has appealed to those who have recovered from the virus infection for blood donation so as to prepare plasma.
People who test negative for COVID-19 in PCR test and within two to six weeks from their recovery from the virus infection are eligible for blood donation for plasma therapy.
According to the information provided on Sunday from Social Development Ministry of the Sudurpaschim State, total caseload of COVID-19 has reached 5754 and of them 814 are active cases while 4929 have recovered from the infection in the state.
Of the active cases, 120 are in home isolation while none has been placed in the ventilator for treatment.
