By Chadani Acharya, Kailali, Sept. 10: Despite the dreadful situation due to steady rise in COVID-19 cases in India, many Nepalis, in this far-western part of Nepal, who came back home earlier have now started returning to India all for the sake of employment.
In the last two months, Saun and Bhadra, over 10,000 Nepalis returned to India in search of job while over 25,000 came back home from India, according to Sudurpaschim State Police Office, Dipayal.
Hundreds of Nepalis are crossing the border points on a daily baisis in the state such as Dharchula, Jhulaghat, Gadda Chauki and Gaurifanta, some are returning home after losing job in India due to COVID-19 while some others are returning to India in the hope they could get employment to support their family.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mukesh Singh, also spokesperson of State Police Office, said that, despite increased risk of virus infection, many Nepalis returning home from India had been rescued to reach their homes while many of those willing to go back to different cities of India for jobs were allowed to move.
Thousands of Nepalis go to Indian cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Punjab, Gujrat, Puna, Banglore and Pithauragarh through different border points.
Of the border points in Sudurpaschim State, most Nepalis are found to be coming in and going out from Gaurifanta.
