Kathmandu, Aug 29 : The Federation of Contractors' Association of Nepal has refuted its involvement in the contract process involving railways. As it is the State authorities that determined the eligibility of the proposals as per the prevalent law and procurement act, the contractors have no role and involvement in it, says a statement issued by the FCAN general secretary Roshan Dahal.
There is no significance of dragging the federation into the contract process in which it has no role, the statement says while alerting one and all towards the efforts being made to malign the image of the federation. In the call for bidding announced by the department of railways, more than one hundred construction companies have participated as joint venture companies. Hence, it is contradictory in itself to say that only a few contractors were involved in the bidding process.
The FCAN is always against any bidding process that is decided through collusion. Furthermore, the latest bidding process by the department of railways has been declared as legal by the High Court Patan, which certifies that the contracting process was legal, adds the statement.
