By Homraj Ranabhat, Nawalparasi (East), Aug. 30: Nawalparsi (East) on Saturday recorded first COVID-19 related death.
A 62-year-old male of Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-6 died on Saturday night while receiving treatment at Chitwan Medical College, Bharatpur, said Pitambar Ghimire, Chief District Officer of Nawalparasi (East).
After suffering from breathing difficulties, he was taken to a naturopathic hospital in Rajhar a week ago. As no sign of improvement was seen in his health condition, he was shifted to the Chitwan Medical College.
He was found to be infected with the novel coronavirus in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test done at the Chitwan Medical College on Saturday.
He died on Saturday night while receiving treatment in ICU.
CDO Ghimire said that the body would be disposed by consulting with the family members, in coordination with the Chitwan District Administration Office.
