Kathmandu, July 7 : The risk of flood and landslide is high this Thursday through Saturday, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.
It said the monsoon would become more active in the country from Thursday night heightening flood and landslide risk as the monsoon low pressure system is close by the Tarai region.
Senior meteorologist Meen Kumar Aryal forecast occurrence of incessant rain in many places of the country and heavy rain in some parts of the Tarai and hilly regions.
The Division has called for precaution as there is possibility of increased water flow in the Tarai land and of occurrence of landslide in the hilly region, thereby affecting the road and air transport. It also warned of inundation in places lacking better drainage system.
Likewise, the Flood Forecasting Division has said there is more risk of flooding in the Tarai region of State-1 and State-2. It has urged all concerned in these areas for preparedness against this disaster.
The weather is presently generally cloudy throughout the country and light rainfall is taking place in State-1, Bagmati State, Gandaki State and State-5, and at some places of the Sudurpaschim State and Karnali State. It will be generally cloudy throughout the country with chances of light to moderate rain at many places towards the afternoon today.
The latest weather information provided by the Division shows that Kathmandu Valley recorded a minimum temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and maximum of 29.4 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours. The lowest temperature throughout the country was recorded in Jumla while the maximum temperature was recorded in Dhangadhi. Jumla's lowest temperature was 15 degrees Celsius and Maximum temperature in Dhangadhi was 34.4 degrees Celsius.
