Melamchi, April 16 : Locals at Melamchi and surroundings have been positive to facilitate the import of medical equipments and safety materials via Tatopni border point to combat COVID-19.
Though locals were protesting against the government decision of resuming the border owing to threat of the outbreak of deadly COVID-19, they have now agreed to open the border and import the necessary medicines and equipments.
An agreement was forged after discussions among the stakeholders, locals, Chief District Officer and local representatives.
According to Bhotekoshi rural municipality, ward no 2 chair Dipendra Shrestha, they agreed to resume the border only to import medicines after the discussions with concerned bodies. He added that they would again hold talks regarding the import of food stuffs and other necessary goods via border points.
The stakeholders are agreed to adopt the safety measurers while importing the goods in Nepal.
