By Lokendra Joshi, Darchula, June 29: Two people were killed and five persons were injured in Naugadh Rural Municipality after being buried in a landslide triggered by destruction of a canal on Sunday night.
One among the five injured is in serious condition, informed Darchula District Police Office.
Police Inspector Surendra Prasad Joshi, information officer of Darchula District Police Office said, “The deceased have been identified as 25-year old Chandra Singh Mehta and his four-year old son, Sushant Mehta.”
Joshi further informed that the deceased wife Chanamati Mehta was severely injured and was receiving treatment in hospital. Her health condition is serious, he added.
Mehta’s house was completely buried in the landslide.
Inspector Joshi said that more than half dozen houses were at high risk of being buried in landslide.
“The buried locals were rescued by a team of police led by Inspector Khagendra Saud of Gokuleshwor Area Police Office,” said Joshi.
