Kalapani is the issue between Nepal and India: China

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 19: China has remarked that the issue of Kalapani area in Nepal is the issue between Nepal and India.

Spokesperson of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zhao Lijian, made the remark at the daily press briefing held on Tuesday in Beijing.

"The issue of Kalapani is between Nepal and India. We hope the two countries will resolve their differences properly through friendly consultations and refrain from taking any unilateral action that may complicate the situation," said the spokesperson responding to a question to make comment on India's road construction in Kalapani, Nepal's objection to it and Indian Army Chief MM Naravane's claim that some third party had prompted Nepal to make the objection.

While Nepal sent a diplomatic note to India objecting to the road construction in Nepali territory of Kalapani, Indian Army General Naravane bluntly said the objection was instigated by a third party, which many believed referred to China.

Nepal had on May 18 decided through a Cabinet meeting to publish a new updated political map of Nepal that includes encroached Nepali territory in Kalapani.
