By Abinash Chaudhary, Dhangadhi, Aug. 5: Kailari Rural Municipality of Kailali district has gone into lockdown for an indefinite period of time.
The Rural Municipality decided to impose lockdown following confirmation of COVID-19 in a health worker, cook deployed in quarantine and a watchman of the quarantine facility at Dipendra Secondary School.
An urgent meeting chaired today by the Rural Municipality Chairman, Lajuram Chaudhary, decided to impose the lockdown to prevent and control the spread of the virus.
Yagam Kalel, information officer of the Rural Municipality, said that the lockdown had already come into effect.
Following the lockdown, all the markets of the Rural Municipality have been shut. Likewise, transportation of vehicles have also been halted. Entering of people into the Rural Municipality will also be stopped until the lockdown, informed Santosh Kumar Chaudhary, chief of the planning department of the Rural Municipality.
“The lockdown has been imposed to prevent the community transmission of the virus,” said Chaudhary. “The lockdown will be enforced strictly.”
On Tuesday, seven persons including a health worker were found with the virus infection in Kailari.
Contact tracing and collection of swab samples are going on in a full swing in Kailari, said Birendra Sapkota, health coordinator of the Rural Municipality.
