By Netra Shahi, Khalanga, Apr 10: The Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) and Teaching Hospital, Jumla, has successfully conducted the a complex surgery of brain hemorrhage.

Organising a press meet on Friday the hospital notified that a team of doctors in the leadership of neurosurgeon and assistant professor, Dr. Nilam Khadka, had successfully conducted the surgery on Dhan Bahadur Raut, 65, of Hima Rural Municipality-1.

Stating that brain hemorrhage was one of the most complex surgeries, Dr. Khadka said that they were immensely happy to conduct the surgery in Jumla itself.

Dr. Khadka said that the cost for the patient were also minimised for the surgery was performed in the patient's home district, Jumla,.

Dr. Suryaman Limbu, Dr. Nirajan Mahaseth and Dr. Harihar Devkota were also involved in the surgery with Dr. Khadka.

"Initially, we were focused on curing the patient with medication only," said Dr. Khadka. "But as the patient fainted, we decided to conduct the surgery with approval of his family members."

Bhim Bahadur Raut, son of patient Dhan Bahadur, said that he was extremely elated as the doctors were able to save life of his father amid the nationwide lockdown.

Likewise, Dr. Khadka informed that his team had conducted three neurosurgeries in the last one month after he got deployed at the academy.

"Brain hemorrhage, which is a form of stroke, is caused by excessive local bleeding in brain," said Dr. Mangal Rawal, Director of the Academy. "The team has taken the academy into new heights by successfully completing the surgery."

32 specialists and 26 medical doctors are currently working in the academy. 

The locals have felt great happiness over the success of the academy.
