By Nabaraj Kattel, Biratnagar, Sept. 7: An elderly aged 76 infected with the novel coronavirus died here on Monday morning within two days of his hospitalization in Koshi Hospital.
The septuagenarian was from Biratnagar Metropolitian-10.
Gyan Bahadur Basnet, manager of at COVID-19 Treatment Center in the Koshi Hospital, said that the elderly who was confirmed of COVID-19 infection on August 26 was admitted to the hospital as he was having health problems even after staying in home isolation for 10 days.
Chuman Lal Das, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, said, "He was admitted to COVID-19 treatment Centre in the Koshi Hospital on Saturday.”
He was suffering from high blood pressure prior to the infection, he added.
As many as 42 deaths from COVID-19 has been recorded in state 1, of them, 12 are from State 2 and 15 are the residents of Biratnagar.
