By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 27: The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Janakpurdham-based Provincial Hospital of Province-2 has been sealed off following death of a COVID-19 patient. The Dhanusa District Police Office informed that tracing of those who had come in direct contact with the virus patient was going on in full swing.
After the death of a male of Shahid Nagar Municipality, the ICU ward of the hospital was sealed off, said, Rameshwor Karki, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dhanusha. All family members of the deceased have been placed in quarantine, he added.
Karki informed that the contact tracing was being done by Shahid Nagar Municipality in co-ordination with Provincial Ministry for Social Development, Provincial Public Health Laboratory and Health Directorate Office.
Dr. Jamun Singh, co-coordinator of isolation ward of the hospital, said “The COVID-19 patient died due to ‘high viral load’. Prior to the infection, he was free from any chronic diseases like diabetes and asthma.”
He was admitted to the hospital on Friday and he tested positive for the virus in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test done on Sunday.
The 38-year old man had reached the hospital driving a motorbike with a pillion rider.
He owned a shop at Dumariya Chowk. He might have contracted the virus while traveling back and forth to India for his business.
