Kathmandu, May 16: The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has called on its cadres to volunteer in the fight against COVID-19. It also called on all political parties and citizens to stand with the government to prevent, control and treat coronavirus infections and handle the economic crisis it has created.
The party also expressed its commitment to preserving the achievements of the last two years made by the NCP-led government. It also highlighted the tireless work done by the present government to fulfil the national aspiration of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis.’
NCP presented these sentiments in a statement issued by its chairmen KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Friday on the occasion of the 27th Madan-Ashrit Memorial Day and the second anniversary of the party unification. NCP unification anniversary today
The statement expressed heartfelt tributes to Madan Bhandari and Jeevraj Ashrit and recalled the unification of the CPN-UML and the Maoist Centre two years ago. It also detailed how the initiative and ideological leadership provided by UML and Maoists contributed to ending the monarchy through a peaceful people’s revolution of 2006 and establishing a federal democratic republican system in the country with social justice, inclusiveness, proportional democratic representation and secularism.
In the two years since the unification, NCP has completed its organisational integration, as per the statement, which stressed the need to complete the remaining unification tasks as soon as possible.
The statement further read, “The party, which has been playing a leading role in the struggle for democracy, citizens’ livelihood and socio-economic transformation since its inception, is today playing a central role in running the state by obtaining the people’s mandate.”
It called the party unification as a historic initiation in establishing an empowered communist party, tipping the national political power balance in favour of working citizens, strengthening unity of patriotic forces and laying the foundation of socialism.
