By Janarjan Khatri, Sarlahi, June 10: Five of those who were sent home from the quarantine as they tested negative in RDT for SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19 have tested positive for the virus in the PCR test.
All the infected had returned home from India and were staying in the quarantine at the new office building of Hariban Municipality located at ward 11 of the municipality.
The municipality had a few days ago performed RDT of all those in the quarantine and the health and other personnel working in the frontline to check the spread of COVID-19. Except for a person, all had tested negative in the test.
Shashikant Singh, coordinator of health section of the Hariban Municipality, said that report of the PCR test of 7 people who tested negative in RDT had come out to be positive for the virus. He said that out of 29 swabs sent on June 1 for the PCR test, reports of the 7 were receieved and they all had tested positive.
The infected are the residents of 2, 3, 4, 8 and 11 wards of the municipality. Of the seven, five were sent home as they had tested negative in the RDT and two others were staying in the quarantine to wait for the PCR report. Those five have already returned to the quarantine after their PCR report came out positive for the virus.
Singh said that no one of the infected had any symptoms of COVID-19 and their health condition was normal.
Renuka Paudel, deputy mayor of the municipality, said all the seven infected were kept separately from others although in the same building with high health safety measures. She said that those who were sent home after RDT had not moved around in their community as they were told to keep at home quarantine for some days.
