Eight including a year old child test positive for COVID-19 in Baglung

By Navin Shishir BK, Baglung, Aug. 27: As many eight persons including a year old child has been found infected with the SARS-C0V-2 that causes COVID-19 in Baglung today.

Most of the infected were detected in course of the contact tracing.

The child is the daughter of a 32-year old woman who was found infected earlier and the girl child's swab was tested as per the close contact tracing.

Sushil Paudel, public health inspector of health section of Baglung Municipality, said that a 34-year old policeman deployed at the quarantine facility set up at Ramrokha Basic School has been found infected with the virus.

Three persons who were in close contact with the 25-year old army soldier of the Municipality found infected on August 22 in the PCR test carried out at the laboratory of Pokhara tuberculosis treatment center have also been found positive for the virus.  

Similarly, the newly confirmed infected include two males aged 31 and 21 of Kathekhola Rural Municipality in the district.

Senior health assistant of the Baglung Municipality health section Dilli Acharya said that preparations were underway to bring all the infected in the pre-isolation center.

With the newly confirmed eight COVID-19 cases, number of cases in Baglung has reached 292. Of them, 261 have recovered from the virus while 30 are under treatment.

As those in contact with the infected in the market area of Baglung have been found infected with the virus, the town area of the municipality is found to be at high risk of transmission and the district COVID-19 management committee has decided to expand testing at the community level.
