Kathmandu, Oct. 7: The government has formed a three-member committee led by Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Gopinath Mainali to hold talks with agitating Prof Dr Govinda KC. It may be noted that Dr KC is on a fast-unto-death since the past 24 days demanding reforms in medical education and health sector.
Dr KC who began his strike from Jumla is currently fasting from the TU Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj , Kathmandu. As per the direction of the government, a team led by Secretary Mainali had also met Dr KC and urged him to call off the strike. However, Dr KC demanded that a talks committee is formed.
Other members of the Committee are Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Gunaraj Lohani and Director of Medical Education Commission Dilip Sharma, according to Spokesperson of the Education Ministry Dipak Sharma.
