Gokarna Paudel, Tulsipur, July 15: As many as 70 workers have been kicked out of their jobs during the lockdown period by Rolpa Cement Pvt. Ltd. situated at Koila, Rolpa Triveni Rural Municipality-3 in Dang district.
Harishchandra Rana, a labourer who got removed from the job, said that some 70 workers of the factory were dismissed from the job.
"Despite an agreement reached in course of setting up the factory here that priority would be given to locals for employment in the factory, all the dismissed workers are locals," said Rana.
Dinesh Kumar Dangi, on behalf of the promoters of the factory, and Jhup Lal Khadka, on behalf of the locals, had signed an agreement in 2007 stating that the locals would be accorded priority for employment in the factory.
Despite repeated efforts to take comments on this issue from Tek Bahadur Gurung, administration chief of the cement factory, he declined to make comments.
Presently, 250 workers are employed in the factory. The factory has been producing 250 metric tons of cement, half of its capacity, due to the lockdown.
