By Bishnu Prasad Pokhrel, Damak, July 31: As many as 12 officials of Armed Police Force (APF) have tested positive for the virus in Kakarbhitta, Mechinagar of Jhapa.
A total of 32 swab samples of APF officials were collected on July 26 from holding center in Kakarbhitta, where 12 were found with the virus infection.
To ascertain whether the virus had entered the community, 32 swab samples of APF officials and 85 swab samples of the general public were collected in the holding center.
All 85 swab samples collected from the community tested negative for the virus.
Nabin Baral, coordinator of Mechinagar Social Development Committee said, “Besides 12 infected APF officials, no case of virus infection has been recorded in the community.”
Until now, 82 people have been infected with COVID-19 in Mechinagar, Jhapa.
The APF officials on duty are instructed to be high alert the citing the rise of virus in Kakarvitta, which shares the border with India.
Earlier, on July 24, as many as 18 Armed Police Force (APF) personnel deployed in the security of eastern border point were found infected with SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19.
