By Ashok Ghimire, Kathmandu, May 5: More than 66,0oo samples have been tested so far via PCR and RDT methods for the coronavirus across the country.
Information to this was shared by Spokesperson at Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Bikash Devkota, during a regular press meet organized at the Ministry on Tuesday. Among the total 66,077 tests, PCR technology tested 13,850 samples while RDT 52,227. In the recent 24 hours 582 specimens were tested. There are 18 PCR machines in different parts of the country to test the specimen.
Categorizing further, State 1 tested 6122 specimen; State 2 tested 5,775; Bagmati State tested 8,940; Gandaki State tested 6,075; State 5 tested 5,193; Karnali State tested 5,876; and Far West tested 14,244.
Similarly, among the total infected persons (82), 62 are men and 21 women. In State 1, there are 31 infected ones while State 2 has 13, Bagmati State has 7, Gandaki State has 2, State 5 has 24 and Far West State has 5, Dr Devkota said.
Among 66 persons receiving treatment, there are 23 in Nepalgunj, one in Kailali, one in Rupandehi, one in Chitwan, nine in Parsa and 31 in Morang. All of them have normal health condition.
Dr Devkota further said the number of people suspected of COVID-19 has reached 120. Currently, there are two in isolation in Kathmandu Valley and 112 outside the Valley.
Moreover, the Health Ministry stated that the number of those staying in quarantine has reached 21,099.
