By Nabaraj Kattel, Biratnagar, Aug. 24: A 65-year-old male of Biratnagar Metropolitan City (BMC)-8, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died while receiving treatment at COVID-19 Treatment Center under the Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar.
"He was brought to the hospital on Sunday night. He breathed his last at 9:00 pm, one hour after being brought to the hospital," said Dr. Dipak Sigdel, in-charge of the treatment center.
After a family member was found with the virus infection, his swab sample was collected for the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test on August 20 during contact tracing.
He was found to be infected with the virus in the report which came out on August 23 and was taken to the hospital.
Three members of his family, including his wife, 25-year-old daughter-in-law and a two-year-old granddaughter have also tested positive for the virus. They have been placed in home isolation.
Until now, two persons have lost their lives to COVID-19 in the Biratnagar COVID-19 hospital.
Prior to this, a 57-year-old of BMC-3, working as a technician at the Nepal Electricity Authority, had succumbed to the virus infection.
The COVID-19 death toll of Biratnagar has reached 10.
