By Dipak Prasad Gautam, Birgunj, July 31: As many as 41 persons including doctors, health workers and hospital cleaners have tested positive for COVID-19 in Parsa.

Their Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests were done at Narayani Hospital, Birgunj.

Dr. Madan Upadhyaya, medical superintendent of Narayani Hospital, said, “41 persons including two doctors, two staff nurses and one hospital cleaner of Narayani Hospital and a doctor of National Medical College were found with the virus infection.”

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in health workers of other hospitals including Advance Medicare. Four officials of two medicine industry have also tested positive for the virus.

Furthermore, in 113 swab samples collected in Railway Secondary School for mass testing, 14 tested positive for the virus, informed Dr. Upadhyaya.

The virus infection has been seen in three kidney patients who had visited the Naryani Hospital for dialysis, two persons of Dhobini Rural Municipality and one each of Pokhariya Municipality and Bahudarmai Municipality, added Dr. Upadhyaya.

Of the 41 newly identified COVID-19 patients, two had undergone paid PCR test after sensing the symptoms like fever and coughing.

Dr. Upadhyaya said that industrialists, businessmen and general public were found with the virus infection in the mass testing.

With this, the total COVID-19 case count of Parsa has reached 397, informed Parsa District Health Office.

246 new cases of virus infection were recorded from July 16 till July 31 while 10 persons have succumbed to the virus in the district.
