By Manu Hamal, Surkhet, June 26: Infection of SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19 has been reported in additional 26 people in Karnali Province today. With this, number of virus infections in the province has reached 1,433, according to health service division under Social Development Ministry of the province.
12 persons of Surkhet, five of Dailekh, three of Salyan, two of Jajarkot and a person of Mugu tested positive for COVID-19 in the PCR test conducted at Surkhet Provincial Hospital/Avian Disease Investigation Laboratory, Surkeht.
Similarly, a person of Jumla and one each from Kathmandu and Surkhet presently staying in Jumla tested positive for the virus in the PCR test done at the Karnali Academy of Health Science, Jumla.
Virus infection has been found in all the districts of the province. With 760 cases, Dailekh has the highest number of COVID-19 patients, while Surkhet has 340 cases, Salyan 177, Kalikot 47, Jumla 30, Jajarko 13, Jumla 2, Mugu 3, a case each in Dolpa and Rukum West. There are 59 infected persons of other provinces getting treatment in the Province.
Meanwhile, as many as 28 persons have recovered from the virus infection and been discharged from different hospitals and isolation centers on Friday. So far, 720 infected people have recovered from the virus in the Province while six COVID-19 patients have died.
