By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Aug. 27: A day after as many as 73 persons were found infected with the novel coronavirus in a single day in Banke, 22 persons including a 70-year-old woman returned home recovering from the infection on Thursday.
Naresh Shrestha, focal person for COVID-19 in Banke District Health Office, said the woman aged 70 was the oldest woman to have been infected with the virus in the district till the date.
The woman, a resident of Nepalgunj-2, was admitted to the Isolation Ward of Sushil Koirala Prakhar Hospital in Khajura. She had COVID-19 symptoms but got over the disease and returned home after the recovery, said Shrestha.
The COVID-19 recovery tally of Banke stands at 682 with the additional 22 discharged patients on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday alone, the infection was confirmed in 73 people along with 51 Nepali Army personnel.
The total number of infected people in the district has reached 920 so far. Five of them, including two women, have died and 233 are still being treated in different isolation centers.
The district health office has shown concern over the recent COVID-19 infection on medical workers of various hospitals.
