By Janarjan Khatri, Sarlahi, Aug. 10: Infection of SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19 has been found in 21 persons of the district including two engineers working at Malangwa Municipality, the seat of district headquarters, on Monday.
Home Nath Subedi, Chief Administrative Officer, of the municipality informed that infection of the virus in the two engineers, one civil engineer who is a permanent resident of ward No. 10 and the other energy engineer, a resident of ward No. 19, was confirmed
Swabs of 139 persons of Malangwa were collected on Friday and sent to Janakpurdham-based Provincial Public Health Laboratory for the PCR testing. Of the 139 swab samples, PCR report of 29 was received, and of them 21 had tested positive for COVID-19.
CAO Subedi said that the infected engineers were asked to stay in home isolation at their houses. The municipality said that swab samples of its employees, health workers, BFIs employees, security personnel and others were collected for PCR testing.
With 21 newly confirmed cases, number of COVID-19 patients has reached 825 in Sarlahi district.
