By Siraj Khan/ Govinda Sharma, Nepalgunj, May 18: Increasing number of COVID-19 patients in Banke district, following death of a COVID-19 infected youth has made Banke the hotspot of COVID-19.

As many as 47 COVID-19 patients have been identified in Banke today.

Following the soaring COVID-19 tally in the district, Banke has been working to increase beds in isolation wards.

The COVID-19 patients of the district are being kept in isolation in Nepalgunj-based hospital.

Minister Sudarshan Baral, State Minister for Social Development has been residing in Nepalgunj for direct supervision of the patients.

The meeting of district level COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre held under chairmanship of Chief District Officer Kumar Bahadur Khadka and in presence of minister Baral and local level heads, has decided to add 200 more beds in isolation wards of the district.

Along with increasing 200 isolation beds, a special team of local bodies, staffs of Bheri Hospital, local administrative officers are working to find potential areas and hospitals for establishment of isolation wards,  said Hari Pykaruel, assistant Chief District Officer.

With complain for ineffective management and congested places by the local people have led to effective management of quarantine, COVID-19 patients and suspects in the district.

38 people shifted to new place after the death of a Male

After the death of a COVID-19 infected youth quarantined in Naraina Rural Municiplaity-5, 38 people staying in the same quarantine have been moved to a new space in Jana Kishan Secondary School.

After the disagreement of people to stay in the quarantine after the death of the youth, we decided to shift them, informed Chairman Sah.

60 people were already living in Jana Kishan secondary School.
