145 new cases of COVID-19 found in Parsa, district tally reaches 1,936

By Dipak Prasad Gautam, Parsa, Aug 23: Additional 145 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Parsa district today.

With this, district tally of COVID-19 in Parsa district has climbed to 1,936.

Out of 156 positive cases found in the PCR test of the 320 swab samples conducted at the Narayani Hospital laboratory, the report of which came on Saturday night, 145 are from Parsa while 11 are from Bara.

Of the infected, 43 were detected in course of contact tracing. The infected include five doctors, three of National Medical College, one of Terai Hospital and Research Center and one of Bhawani Hospital and Research Center. Five media persons working in the Radio Narayani FM have also been found infected.

Similarly, the newly infected include nine detainees at the Parsa District Police Office, 16 persons of Pipra and 10 of Chapakaiya, Birgunj Metropolis-14. Four people of Parsagadhi Municipality, nine of Bindbasini Rural Municiaplity and 2 persons of the dry port are also found infected with the virus.

According to the laboratory sources at the Narayani Hospital, two personnel of the army barrack at Jitpur, nine persons of Nepal Pharaseuticals Ltd and three persons of Himal Iron Steel company have also been found infected.

Although information related to COVID-19 in the district is said to be provided only by the District Administration Office, information of the PCR report that came on Saturday night was not provided till 1 pm on Sunday.
